Delivery action words

Alternatives to “developed” on your resume

Use the verb that fits the stage you worked on, from research and design to implementation.

Words to consider

“Authored” fits written material; it does not mean you implemented the process.

Vague wording

Developed a team process.

More specific wording

Established a weekly intake process to assign requests and surface blocked work.

Illustrative example. Replace the details with your own work and verified outcomes.

Choose the meaning that fits

Built is useful for a working deliverable, established for introducing a repeatable practice, and authored for written material. Implemented focuses on putting a plan into use. Clarify whether you created the first version, extended an existing system or documented an approach for someone else. These are all useful contributions, but they describe different stages of development.

Learning and development example

Authored a troubleshooting guide from recurring support questions and reviewed the draft with product specialists.

The writing and review work is clear. Do not change authored to implemented unless you also introduced the guide into the team’s working process. This is an illustration, not a claim to copy into your own work history.

Use it in your own sentence

Start with the action you performed, add the project or process, then explain the purpose or result. Include a number only when you can verify it. Read the sentence aloud: a precise, ordinary word is usually stronger than inflated language.

Check three things before keeping the rewrite: could you explain the work in an interview, does the verb match your authority, and does the result belong to you or the wider team? Keep technical terms that accurately describe your experience. Changing a verb should make the sentence easier to understand without changing what happened. Use past tense for completed work and consistent tense for ongoing duties.
