Impact action words

Alternatives to “achieved” on your resume

Connect the outcome to your actions rather than presenting an unsupported success claim.

Words to consider

Name the goal or milestone; do not claim a business result you cannot verify.

Vague wording

Achieved the project goal.

More specific wording

Delivered the migration plan and completed the agreed release checks before handover.

Illustrative example. Replace the details with your own work and verified outcomes.

Choose the meaning that fits

Completed fits finishing an agreed task. Reached can describe a milestone or target, attained suits a level or qualification, and delivered points to an output provided. Name the specific finish line rather than relying on success as a description. When several people contributed, connect your own actions to the shared result and avoid implying that you achieved it alone.

Project coordination example

Completed the launch checklist and handed over the support documentation by the agreed release date.

The evidence is the finished deliverables and deadline. Revenue, adoption or customer satisfaction would be separate outcomes requiring their own support. This is an illustration, not a claim to copy into your own work history.

Use it in your own sentence

Start with the action you performed, add the project or process, then explain the purpose or result. Include a number only when you can verify it. Read the sentence aloud: a precise, ordinary word is usually stronger than inflated language.

Check three things before keeping the rewrite: could you explain the work in an interview, does the verb match your authority, and does the result belong to you or the wider team? Keep technical terms that accurately describe your experience. Changing a verb should make the sentence easier to understand without changing what happened. Use past tense for completed work and consistent tense for ongoing duties.
