Communication action words

Alternatives to “presented” on your resume

Explain what you presented, to whom and for what decision or purpose.

Words to consider

A presentation does not necessarily mean the recommendations were adopted.

Vague wording

Presented findings.

More specific wording

Briefed product stakeholders on recurring onboarding issues and proposed changes to the help content.

Illustrative example. Replace the details with your own work and verified outcomes.

Choose the meaning that fits

Demonstrated suits showing how something works. Reported emphasizes providing information, while briefed usually suggests a concise update. Explained highlights making a subject understandable. The audience and purpose often add more value than the replacement verb, especially when your role involved translating technical information.

Education example

Demonstrated the project prototype to classmates and explained the design choices behind its navigation.

The academic setting stays visible and the example makes no claim about commercial adoption. This is an illustration, not a claim to copy into your own work history.

Use it in your own sentence

Start with the action you performed, add the project or process, then explain the purpose or result. Include a number only when you can verify it. Read the sentence aloud: a precise, ordinary word is usually stronger than inflated language.

Check three things before keeping the rewrite: could you explain the work in an interview, does the verb match your authority, and does the result belong to you or the wider team? Keep technical terms that accurately describe your experience. Changing a verb should make the sentence easier to understand without changing what happened. Use past tense for completed work and consistent tense for ongoing duties.
