Choose the meaning that fits
Supervised points to oversight of people or work. Guided fits giving direction and support, which may occur without formal management authority. Directed suggests stronger control over decisions. Spearheaded implies initiating and driving an effort. Choose based on your authority and contribution, not the word’s intensity. If leadership was shared, make the partnership visible in the rest of the sentence.
Project delivery example
Guided a cross-functional working group through release-readiness discussions and documented unresolved decisions for the project owner.
The example describes facilitation and direction without claiming final ownership of the release. Keep the distinction if a manager made the final decision. This is an illustration, not a claim to copy into your own work history.
Use it in your own sentence
Start with the action you performed, add the project or process, then explain the purpose or result. Include a number only when you can verify it. Read the sentence aloud: a precise, ordinary word is usually stronger than inflated language.
Check three things before keeping the rewrite: could you explain the work in an interview, does the verb match your authority, and does the result belong to you or the wider team? Keep technical terms that accurately describe your experience. Changing a verb should make the sentence easier to understand without changing what happened. Use past tense for completed work and consistent tense for ongoing duties.
