Words to consider
- Supported
- Prepared
- Contributed to
- Coordinated
It is fine to keep “assisted” when it accurately describes your level of responsibility.
Vague wording
Assisted the sales team.
More specific wording
Prepared product comparison sheets for the sales team to use in customer discussions.
Illustrative example. Replace the details with your own work and verified outcomes.
Choose the meaning that fits
You can keep assisted and improve the rest of the sentence. Name who you supported, what you handled and the part you completed independently. Prepared is useful when your output was a document or set of materials. Coordinated fits arranging inputs or activities, but should not imply broader management. Supporting work becomes convincing through detail, not a more senior-sounding title.
Healthcare administration example
Prepared discharge information packs and coordinated appointment details with the ward administration team.
This illustrative example describes administrative support. It does not imply clinical decision-making or patient outcomes that the applicant cannot substantiate. This is an illustration, not a claim to copy into your own work history.
Use it in your own sentence
Start with the action you performed, add the project or process, then explain the purpose or result. Include a number only when you can verify it. Read the sentence aloud: a precise, ordinary word is usually stronger than inflated language.
Check three things before keeping the rewrite: could you explain the work in an interview, does the verb match your authority, and does the result belong to you or the wider team? Keep technical terms that accurately describe your experience. Changing a verb should make the sentence easier to understand without changing what happened. Use past tense for completed work and consistent tense for ongoing duties.
