Real Estate Agent Resume: Example for New and Experienced Agents

A real estate agent resume should explain your current credential status, the market you work in and the part you play in client transactions. Show communication, organization and follow-through with concrete examples. Keep sales activity, closed transactions and property management responsibilities distinct.

Make the role and credential status clear

BLS distinguishes real estate sales agents from brokers and notes that licensing requirements apply. Use the actual title and current credential you hold. Do not present yourself as a broker because the vacancy is at a brokerage, or imply active authorization while a credential is pending.

State the market or client group you served when it helps explain fit. Residential buyer support, seller listings and commercial work involve different examples. Keep client addresses and private transaction documents out of the resume.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

[Actual completed qualification or training] — [Provider], [Date]

Describe client work from enquiry to next action

A good bullet explains what you did with the client’s information. “Excellent people skills” is less useful than explaining how you clarified requirements, organized visits or kept a transaction moving through its next step.

Keep the scope realistic. Coordinating a document request does not mean providing legal advice. Preparing information for a client does not mean you independently approved a contract. Use wording that reflects your actual authority and the brokerage’s process.

Client communication patterns

Buyer work: Recorded [actual search requirements], organized [showing activity] and followed up on questions before the next client discussion.

Seller work: Coordinated [listing preparation task] and checked [property information] before submitting materials for review.

Transaction support: Maintained a milestone tracker for [permitted scope] and flagged missing items to [responsible party].

Report transaction results without mixing measures

If you use transaction count, clarify the period and whether it represents your own closed work or the team’s. Listing volume is different from closed sales volume, and property sale value is not personal income. Use the definition from your actual records.

For a team result, identify your role. “Supported [verified number] transactions through document coordination” is different from claiming to have personally closed them. Do not disclose client-specific financial details just to make a bullet look measurable.

If a figure is unavailable or restricted, use scope and process. A truthful description of organized follow-up is stronger than an invented commission, ranking or growth percentage.

For a new agent, show readiness without invented closings

A new agent can show relevant customer service, sales administration, scheduling and completed training. Put the real experience beneath its original employer and title. Do not create fictional transactions to fill the gap.

If you completed a practice market analysis or listing exercise, label it as training. Explain the sources and output without implying a real client relationship. Keep the sample separate from your employment record.

Before sending, verify credential status and the exact wording of any affiliation. Follow the employer’s instructions about supporting documents, and omit private identity information from a publicly shared resume. Check dates, links and every numerical claim against your records.

Questions, answered

Can I write a real estate resume before my first transaction?

Yes. Use truthful training and transferable client-service experience. Keep credential status explicit and do not imply that practice exercises were completed sales.

Should I include sales volume?

Include an accurate, permitted figure with its period and definition. Separate personal activity from team results and sale value from earnings.

Is property management experience relevant?

It may demonstrate communication and recordkeeping, but describe it as property management. Explain the connection without presenting operational duties as real estate sales.
