Medical Assistant / Front Desk Receptionist – MyFitMed Health
Job Overview
Join the MyFitMed Health team as a Medical Assistant, where your enthusiasm and expertise will directly impact patient care and clinic efficiency. In this versatile role, you will support both clinical and front office operations, helping ensure a smooth, welcoming experience for every patient in a fast-paced medical environment. When not performing medical assistant duties, you will also serve as a front desk receptionist, greeting patients, managing check-in and check-out, and keeping the office running efficiently.
This position may require travel to other MyFitMed locations a few days a week as needed, giving you the opportunity to work with different teams and grow your skills across diverse medical specialties, including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and geriatrics.
Clinical Responsibilities
Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, and weight.Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments in accordance with infection control protocols.Perform phlebotomy procedures to draw blood samples for laboratory testing, ensuring patient comfort and safety.Manage electronic health records (EHR/EMR) accurately by documenting patient encounters, updating medical records, and coding diagnoses using ICD coding standards.Support medication administration under provider supervision, including preparing and labeling medications as prescribed.Provide patient education on treatments, procedures, and medications as directed by the provider.Front Desk & Administrative Responsibilities
Serve as front desk receptionist when not performing medical assistant duties, greeting patients and visitors in a friendly, professional manner.Check patients in and out, verify demographic information, and collect copays and payments.Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and route messages to the appropriate staff or provider.Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments, and manage the provider schedule to keep the clinic running on time.Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain prior authorizations when needed, and assist with billing support.Scan, file, and maintain organized medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.Keep the reception and waiting areas clean, organized, and welcoming.Monitor and restock office and clinical supplies as needed.Location & Schedule
Primary work location at a MyFitMed Health clinic, with travel to other MyFitMed locations a few days a week as needed.Flexibility to adjust schedules based on clinic needs is required.Reliable transportation is required.Experience & Qualifications
Prior experience working in a medical office setting is highly preferred; familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems is essential.Front desk, reception, or patient scheduling experience is a strong plus.Experience in specialties such as dermatology, medspa, primary care office, urgent care, will be advantageous.Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding.Certification in basic life support (BLS); additional certifications such as phlebotomy, CMA, RMA, or medication administration are a plus.Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to multitask in a busy environment.Proven ability to manage medical documentation accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality.Embark on a rewarding career where your skills make a meaningful difference! Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
