Software Product Manager Location: Remote Position Summary The Software Product Manager is responsible for defining and leading the strategy, roadmap, delivery, adoption, performance, and lifecycle of assigned software products and platform capabilities. This role serves as the voice of the customer and market, translating validated user problems, business objectives, product data, technical constraints, and competitive insights into clear outcomes, prioritized investments, and executable plans. As a key member of the Platform Product Management team, the Software Product Manager owns assigned software products and platform capabilities from problem discovery and business-case development through delivery, launch, adoption, optimization, and retirement. This position is accountable for establishing a compelling product vision, defining measurable outcomes, and making evidence-based prioritization decisions that improve customer value, revenue growth, retention, operational efficiency, and strategic differentiation. The Software Product Manager works closely with Product Design, Engineering, Architecture, Data, Quality Assurance, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Regulatory, Customer Success, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Support, and regional teams. Success in this role requires the ability to lead through influence, balance customer and business needs with technical considerations, and enable agile teams to deliver secure, scalable, accessible, and supportable software solutions. Essential Functions Define and communicate product vision, strategy, target customers, value proposition, positioning, and measurable objectives in alignment with portfolio and company goals. Lead continuous product discovery through customer interviews, workflow observation, usage analysis, market research, competitive analysis, and concept or prototype validation. Translate validated customer problems and strategic opportunities into outcome-based roadmaps, product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, release goals, and prioritized backlogs. Apply consistent prioritization methods and make clear tradeoffs across customer value, business impact, delivery effort, technical health, risk, and time to learning. Partner closely with Engineering and Product Design throughout discovery and delivery to clarify intent, reduce ambiguity, review progress, and adapt scope based on learning. Define product and feature success measures, instrumentation, and dashboards. Evaluate adoption, activation, engagement, retention, customer satisfaction, product quality, cost-to-serve, and revenue impact. Run experiments and post-launch reviews, using customer feedback and product data to determine whether to iterate, scale, reposition, or discontinue investments. Own the full software product lifecycle, including release planning, launch readiness, adoption, maintenance, migrations, deprecation, end-of-life planning, and customer communications. Partner with Engineering, R&D, Portfolio Owners, Quality Assurance, Security, Privacy, and Regulatory teams to incorporate scalability, reliability, interoperability, data governance, compliance, accessibility, supportability, and technical debt into product decisions. Guide platform, API, integration, data, and entitlement decisions to support cohesive customer workflows and sustainable product architecture. Develop business cases and contribute to pricing, packaging, forecasting, investment planning, and build-buy-partner recommendations. Lead go-to-market and release-readiness planning with Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Support, Training, and regional teams. Support positioning, enablement, documentation, migration, and adoption planning for new and existing software capabilities. Provide concise, decision-oriented updates regarding outcomes, roadmap changes, dependencies, risks, assumptions, and tradeoffs to customers, delivery teams, stakeholders, and senior leaders. Promote modern product management practices, responsible and ethical use of data and AI where applicable, and a culture of customer empathy, accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Product Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Design, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 3+ years of software product management experience. Experience owning customer-facing software, SaaS products, enterprise applications, digital platforms, or data products from discovery through post-launch optimization. Demonstrated experience delivering software capabilities and improving measurable customer or business outcomes. Experience with product discovery, product strategy, roadmapping, prioritization, requirements definition, agile product delivery, launch management, adoption, optimization, and lifecycle planning. Experience developing product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, release goals, and prioritized product backlogs. Experience working with cross-functional Engineering, Design, Quality, Security, Data, Commercial, Customer Success, and Support teams. Ability to define and track product KPIs and use data to evaluate customer behavior and product performance. Technical understanding of modern software concepts including cloud services, APIs, integrations, data models, identity and access management, observability, release pipelines, and architectural tradeoffs. Strong written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder communication skills. Ability to influence without direct authority and create alignment across cross-functional and distributed teams. Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage competing priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and product collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Figma, Miro, Power BI, or comparable platforms. Schedule flexibility to collaborate with international teams across multiple time zones. Preferred Qualifications Experience with B2B software products, regulated industries, laboratory workflows, food safety, connected instruments, or global products. Experience using SQL, product analytics tools, or business intelligence platforms to evaluate product performance. Experience analyzing funnels, cohorts, experiments, adoption metrics, and customer behavior. Working knowledge of secure software development, privacy by design, accessibility, regulatory or quality requirements, and operational resilience. Experience supporting platform, API, integration, data, or entitlement strategy. Experience with pricing, packaging, forecasting, investment planning, or build-buy-partner analysis. Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of how product decisions affect revenue, retention, margin, customer value, and cost-to-serve. Experience leading go-to-market, release-readiness, customer migration, and product adoption initiatives. Experience with responsible use of artificial intelligence, data, or emerging technologies within software products. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong customer empathy and product judgment.
