We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Embedded Software Engineer or Software Architect specializing in Automotive Cybersecurity to join our engineering team.
In this role, you will drive the design, development, and integration of cybersecurity solutions for next-generation automotive systems. You will work across software, hardware, and manufacturing domains, ensuring that cybersecurity is embedded throughout the product development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate combines strong low-level software development skills with expertise in embedded architectures, cybersecurity engineering, cryptography, and automotive communication technologies. You will provide technical leadership, evaluate emerging security technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and innovative automotive solutions.
Conduct cybersecurity requirements analysis and reviews, identifying security implications and potential attack vectors.
Perform threat analysis and risk assessment (TARA), threat modeling, and cybersecurity design reviews.
Develop and implement security concepts and technical countermeasures to mitigate vulnerabilities and reduce cybersecurity risks.
Support cybersecurity assessments, audits, verification activities, and technical reviews throughout the product lifecycle.
Contribute to cybersecurity incident analysis, vulnerability management, and threat mitigation activities.
Define and review secure software architectures for embedded automotive systems.
Develop and evaluate low-level software solutions using C and embedded programming techniques.
Identify, customize, and leverage embedded platforms, operating systems, middleware, and system components.
Design and review hardware/software interfaces, including device drivers, board support packages (BSPs), and platform-specific integrations.
Evaluate and integrate security mechanisms across software, hardware, and connected services.
Design and support cryptographic mechanisms, secure boot, secure communication, authentication, and cryptographic key management.
Evaluate hardware-based security technologies, including Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), Secure Hardware Extensions (SHE), ARM TrustZone, and Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs).
Analyze and secure automotive communication interfaces and protocols, including CAN, CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet, Bluetooth, NFC, and Wi-Fi.
Assess emerging cybersecurity technologies and determine their suitability for future automotive applications.
Support the integration of cybersecurity requirements into hardware, software, and manufacturing processes.
Provide technical guidance and cybersecurity expertise to software, hardware, systems, validation, and manufacturing teams.
Define implementation strategies for prototypes, proof-of-concept solutions, and technical demonstrations.
Guide engineering teams in adopting secure design principles, cybersecurity validation methodologies, and development best practices.
Review technical documentation, architecture designs, implementation approaches, and verification results.
Support cybersecurity knowledge sharing and the continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Strong proficiency in C programming and low-level embedded software development.
Solid understanding of embedded systems architecture, operating systems, networking, middleware, cryptography, and resource management.
Experience in embedded platform customization, system integration, or operating system-level development.
Practical experience in cybersecurity engineering, including threat analysis, risk assessment, vulnerability mitigation, and security design reviews.
Experience with security operations, incident handling, vulnerability analysis, or threat management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate cybersecurity requirements into practical engineering solutions.
Familiarity with engineering tools such as Enterprise Architect, Jira, and Polarion.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Experience in the automotive industry or development of safety- and security-critical embedded systems.
Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE WP.29 cybersecurity requirements, and relevant SAE and ISO standards.
Relevant cybersecurity certifications, such as ISO/SAE 21434-related CSMS or cybersecurity engineering qualifications.
Hands-on experience with automotive communication protocols, including CAN, CAN-FD, and Automotive Ethernet.
Familiarity with Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi, and connected vehicle technologies.
Ability to interpret electronic circuit schematics, hardware datasheets, and digital logic designs.
Experience designing and integrating device drivers, board support packages (BSPs), and hardware/software interfaces.
Knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic and/or Adaptive platforms.
Expertise in threat modeling, TARA, cybersecurity architecture, and security design reviews for emerging technologies.
Practical knowledge of hardware security technologies, including HSM, SHE, ARM TrustZone, and TEE.
Experience with secure boot, firmware integrity, software update security, key provisioning, and lifecycle key management.
Strong software architecture and embedded engineering expertise.
Ability to balance security, performance, reliability, and resource constraints.
Structured approach to threat analysis and risk-based decision-making.
Technical leadership and stakeholder management.
Curiosity about emerging technologies and continuous professional development.
Success in this role will be demonstrated through:
Delivery of robust and maintainable cybersecurity architectures for embedded automotive systems.
Effective identification, assessment, and mitigation of cybersecurity risks.
Successful integration of security mechanisms across software and hardware components.
Improved cybersecurity validation practices and engineering processes.
Effective technical collaboration and knowledge transfer across development teams.
Alignment of engineering solutions with applicable automotive cybersecurity requirements and standards.

Start with a role or skill you want to use in your next job. Use the location and role filters to narrow the results, then open a listing to review the description. A title alone rarely explains the level of responsibility, working arrangement, or experience a team needs. Compare those details before deciding which opportunities deserve a tailored application.
Employers use different titles for similar work. If an exact phrase produces no results, try a shorter title, a core skill, or an alternative name for the role. Remove one filter at a time to understand which requirement is narrowing your search. A broader search can reveal suitable work without asking you to change your actual qualifications.
For each promising listing, read the responsibilities and separate essential requirements from preferences. Note the location, schedule, employment type, and compensation when provided. Missing details are questions to confirm with the employer. A remote opening may still require a particular country, work authorization, or time-zone overlap, so check the full posting before treating it as a location-independent opportunity.
Choose a few examples that demonstrate the skills this employer names. Explain your contribution and its outcome, using accurate numbers where available. Put the most relevant experience first and keep your resume easy to scan. Avoid adding technologies, qualifications, or achievements simply because they appear in a description. Your application should make your existing strengths easier to understand.
Follow the employer’s instructions for resumes, cover letters, work samples, and screening questions. Review the exported file before submitting it: confirm that contact details are correct, text can be selected, and links reach the intended pages. A resume check can help you spot unclear writing before you apply. Its feedback is advisory and does not predict a hiring decision.
Listings are collected from external sources and may change after they appear here. The employer or recruiting destination controls whether applications are open. If an original link is unavailable, check the company’s careers page for the title or move to another opening. An employer website link is a place to check current vacancies, rather than confirmation that a particular job is still accepting applications.
Keep a simple record of the company, role, job reference, application date, and documents you sent. Record any follow-up instructions and the next action you plan to take. This makes it easier to prepare for interviews, compare opportunities, and avoid applying repeatedly to the same opening through different boards. Review your shortlist as employers update their listings and prioritize opportunities with clear requirements that match the work you want to do.
