Job Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead a small, dynamic team of developers and testers delivering high-quality software for our mission-critical, cloud-based Agiblocks commodity trading and risk management product.Job Description:
Agiblocks is the cloud-based CTRM platform that international agricultural and soft-commodity traders use to run trades, risk, logistics, billing, financial integrations and compliance. Our customers’ operations cannot fail, so high availability, performance and resilience are not features, they are the baseline.
We are looking for a hands-on Software Development Team Lead to run the day-to-day R&D process, provide technical leadership and coordinate the DevOps effort. Working closely with the Product Owner and Business Unit Leader, you will keep the team’s development rhythm effective, participate in technical discussions and help the team make pragmatic delivery and design decisions.
A defining part of this role is changing how we build and test. We are moving to AI-supported, largely automated testing and adopting AI-assisted software development across the team, and we want a leader who will drive that change rather than wait for it.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will remain close enough to the code to review work, troubleshoot issues and contribute directly when this helps the team, while spending most of your time coordinating delivery, facilitating technical decisions and improving how the team works.
Lead the transition towards substantially more automated testing: expand automated coverage, reduce manual regression effort and use AI-assisted test generation and maintenance where it adds value, so releases can be validated faster and more consistently.
Introduce AI-assisted software development across the team - coding assistants, AI-supported code review, documentation and legacy migration and make it a standing working practice rather than a pilot.
Set the guardrails that keep AI-generated code safe in a mission-critical product: human accountability for every merge, security review, licence and IP hygiene and no erosion of readability or maintainability.
Define and report the measures that prove it is working, delivery cycle time, escaped defects, automated coverage and regression run time.
Lead, mentor and motivate the team across development, QA and DevOps, onshore and offshore.
Drive recruiting, onboarding and performance feedback.
Grow engineers technically through code review, pair programming and design discussion.
Build a collaborative, accountable, results-driven team culture.
Work with the Product Owner to clarify requirements, estimate work and plan sprints.
Run the team’s day-to-day R&D process: facilitate daily stand-ups, prepare and lead twice-weekly user-story grooming sessions and run biweekly sprint closing and planning meetings.
Coordinate development and DevOps contributions to customer-funded, consulting and implementation projects and report progress against their milestones.
Track and report sprint outcomes and delivery metrics.
Coordinate the software release process and provide cost estimates, or facilitate reliable team estimates, for new work, customer requests and quotations.
Stay hands-on: write code, review pull requests and debug production issues.
Lead and moderate technical discussions, help the team evaluate options and make or approve day-to-day technical decisions within the agreed product and architecture direction.
Coordinate the DevOps effort for Agiboo-built and deployed applications, align priorities with the DevOps engineers and ensure that hosting, deployment and release needs are addressed. The role sets day-to-day direction and facilitates decisions but is not expected to administer the platform independently.
Troubleshoot product and infrastructure issues and enforce secure, sound engineering practice.
Evaluate and lead modernisation of tools, platforms and integrations (market data, ERP and financial systems).
Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
5+ years in professional software development, with solid experience building and maintaining commercial web-based business software.
Experience as a technical lead, senior developer with team coordination responsibilities, or development manager. This may be a first formal people-leadership role for a candidate who has already led technical discussions and delivery activities.
Strong working knowledge of web-based C# and .NET, including traditional .NET and modern .NET; SQL Server and Entity Framework; containerized software hosting and SaaS delivery; and integration with external systems.
A modern UI framework in production: React, Blazor or ASP.NET MVC.
Microsoft Azure and microservices architecture, with enough working knowledge of containerised, cloud-based deployment (Kubernetes) to direct and challenge a DevOps team.
Layered / 3-tier application design, with clean separation of business logic from UI.
Relational and document databases: MS SQL / Azure SQL and MongoDB.
Hands-on Agile/Scrum, CI/CD and test automation practice, with automated tests integrated into the pipeline.
Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development in a working team - coding assistants, AI-supported review or AI-generated tests with a clear view of where it helps and where it does not.
Optimizing cloud applications for high throughput and high availability.
Commodity trading and risk management, or domain knowledge in agriculture, energy or metals.
Delivering in a support-intensive, customer-facing product environment.
Rolling out AI tooling across an engineering team: adoption, standards and guardrails.
Agentic coding tools or AI-assisted test generation platforms in a compliance-sensitive product.
Breadth across a wide array of technologies and integration patterns.
Hands-on by preference. You would rather unblock a defect than chair a status meeting.
Strong ownership: accountable for what the team ships, not just for the tasks assigned.
Structured and calm under competing priorities and live customer escalations.
Clear communicator with engineers, product, and customers alike.
Pragmatic about AI: you treat it as leverage applied under engineering judgement, not as a substitute for it.
Manages the development, QA and DevOps team, onshore and offshore.
Owns sprint planning, task allocation and performance feedback.
Makes day-to-day delivery and technical decisions within agreed priorities and architecture guardrails, escalating material product, investment, people or platform decisions to the Business Unit Leader and Product Owner.
Reports to the Business Unit Leader and works closely with the Product Owner.

Start with a role or skill you want to use in your next job. Use the location and role filters to narrow the results, then open a listing to review the description. A title alone rarely explains the level of responsibility, working arrangement, or experience a team needs. Compare those details before deciding which opportunities deserve a tailored application.
Employers use different titles for similar work. If an exact phrase produces no results, try a shorter title, a core skill, or an alternative name for the role. Remove one filter at a time to understand which requirement is narrowing your search. A broader search can reveal suitable work without asking you to change your actual qualifications.
For each promising listing, read the responsibilities and separate essential requirements from preferences. Note the location, schedule, employment type, and compensation when provided. Missing details are questions to confirm with the employer. A remote opening may still require a particular country, work authorization, or time-zone overlap, so check the full posting before treating it as a location-independent opportunity.
Choose a few examples that demonstrate the skills this employer names. Explain your contribution and its outcome, using accurate numbers where available. Put the most relevant experience first and keep your resume easy to scan. Avoid adding technologies, qualifications, or achievements simply because they appear in a description. Your application should make your existing strengths easier to understand.
Follow the employer’s instructions for resumes, cover letters, work samples, and screening questions. Review the exported file before submitting it: confirm that contact details are correct, text can be selected, and links reach the intended pages. A resume check can help you spot unclear writing before you apply. Its feedback is advisory and does not predict a hiring decision.
Listings are collected from external sources and may change after they appear here. The employer or recruiting destination controls whether applications are open. If an original link is unavailable, check the company’s careers page for the title or move to another opening. An employer website link is a place to check current vacancies, rather than confirmation that a particular job is still accepting applications.
Keep a simple record of the company, role, job reference, application date, and documents you sent. Record any follow-up instructions and the next action you plan to take. This makes it easier to prepare for interviews, compare opportunities, and avoid applying repeatedly to the same opening through different boards. Review your shortlist as employers update their listings and prioritize opportunities with clear requirements that match the work you want to do.
