The Role

We are looking for a Web Developer & UI/UX Designer to join our team as a short-term independent contractor to help create exceptional digital experiences across Menē.com. The engagement structure (hourly, fixed-fee, or project-based) will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience and project requirements.

This role is focused on delivering a defined pipeline of UI/UX, front-end development and digital marketing projects. You will work closely with the CTO, as well as collaborate closely with Engineering, Sales & Marketing, and Design to bring ideas from concept to production, implement new features, and continuously improve user experience throughout the engagement.

This is a hands-on role that is ideal for someone who enjoys visual design and front-end development and is comfortable writing clean, responsive code in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

UI Design

• Design intuitive, visually polished user interfaces for web experiences and internal tools
• Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and production-ready designs in Figma
• Maintain consistency with Menē's visual identity and design system
• Ensure responsive experiences across desktop and mobile devices

Front-End Development

• Develop responsive interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React
• Translate designs into clean, maintainable production code
• Build reusable UI components that improve development efficiency
• Optimize front-end performance, accessibility, and responsiveness

Email Development & Marketing Support

• Design and build responsive HTML email campaigns and transactional emails
• Collaborate with Marketing to create promotional emails, product launches, and lifecycle communications
• Ensure email compatibility across major email clients and devices
• Develop landing pages and campaign assets supporting marketing initiatives
• Maintain brand consistency across all customer-facing digital communications

Engineering Support

• Work alongside the CTO and Engineering team to accelerate project delivery
• Support implementation of new website features and enhancements
• Assist with internal tools and customer-facing applications
• Troubleshoot UI issues and continuously improve existing experiences

Collaboration

• Report directly to the CTO while partnering with Sales & Marketing, Operations, Customer Care, and Design
• Participate in planning, design reviews, and technical discussions
• Help establish front-end standards and best practices
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining a high level of quality

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design and front-end development
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React
• Experience designing and coding responsive HTML emails
• Experience with Figma
• Strong understanding of responsive web design and accessibility
• Excellent attention to detail and visual craftsmanship
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows

Nice to Have

• Shopify or Shopify Liquid experience
• Experience with email marketing platforms such as Klaviyo
• Familiarity with Tailwind CSS or component libraries
• Experience working for an eCommerce or luxury consumer brand
