Join us.Job DescriptionJoin AECOM's B+P Sustainable Design Team in an exciting opportunity to help lead our response to the climate emergency. Based in Madrid, you will work alongside architects, engineers, interior designers, and urban planners on a diverse portfolio of international projects. This role is suited to an experienced sustainability professional with a strong sustainability and design background, and the ability to guide projects from concept through delivery.ResponsibilitiesLead the development of sustainability and decarbonisation strategies for buildings and masterplans.Deliver environmental and building performance analysis to inform design decisions from early concept stages onwards.Develop and apply data-driven and parametric design workflows to support sustainable outcomes.Prepare and review technical reports, sustainability strategies, and client presentations.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and engage directly with clients and stakeholders.Manage sustainability deliverables, ensuring high-quality project delivery.Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of the Sustainable Design team.Support innovation, research, and business development activities.QualificationsEducationDegree in Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline.A Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Design, or Building Physics is desirableExperienceProven experience in sustainable design, environmental consultancy, building performance analysis, or a related field, typically 5+ years.Proven experience developing sustainability and decarbonisation strategies for buildings and masterplans.Proven experience delivering environmental analysis and building performance assessments throughout the design process.Experience supporting project delivery within multidisciplinary design teams.Technical KnowledgeStrong understanding of low-carbon design, building physics, and environmental performance assessment.Experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), embodied carbon analysis, and whole-life carbon assessments using tools such as One Click LCA or similar.Experience with environmental simulation tools such as IES VE, EnergyPlus, Radiance, Ladybug Tools, Honeybee, or equivalent.Experience with parametric design and early-stage design tools, particularly Grasshopper, is highly desirable. Experience with Python or other scripting languages is an advantage.Proficiency in Rhino, Revit, and Microsoft Office applications.Knowledge of sustainability certification schemes such as LEED, BREEAM, WELL, or Passivhaus.Key CompetenciesStrong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Proactive mindset with a commitment to innovation and continuous learning.LanguagesProfessional proficiency in English and Spanish.Additional languages will be considered an asset.Additional InformationAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
