Job description

Healthcare’s helping hand.

CHG shook things up in 1979 by inventing the locum tenens staffing model. We connect doctors with patients who need their care. As the largest physician staffing firm in America, our providers treat millions of patients each year.

Our industry is growing and demand is high. This means you’ll have plenty of opportunities to grow and develop in your career. Keeping healthcare healthy can be as fun as it is rewarding

CHG Healthcare is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our DMO Engineering team. The Engineering team designs, builds, and maintains the technology platforms and software solutions that power CHG's staffing and healthcare businesses. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader and mentor across the team, driving high-quality software delivery, architectural decisions, and engineering excellence in an AI-driven product development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain production software following SOLID architecture design, engineering best-practices, and defined development methodologies
  • Apply SOLID design principles consistently across build, review, and test to produce maintainable, high-quality software
  • Leverage AI tools across the full development lifecycle — spec generation, coding, and review — with the judgment to critically evaluate and own AI-generated output
  • Contribute to system architecture discussions and apply mature design patterns to build highly available, resilient, performant, and secure systems
  • Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring spec alignment
  • Collaborate with product and stakeholders across AI-driven product development, aligning on scope and business value
  • Use AI tools to accelerate ramp-up on new languages, frameworks, and platforms, and to generate and improve technical documentation
  • Identify and address technical debt that impedes team velocity and quality
  • Participate in technical refinements, breaking epics and stories into executable tasks targeting thin vertical slices

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, high agency and systems thinking; business acumen and product judgment
  • Engineering Practices & Processes — apply SOLID design principles, Engineering Playbook, CI/CD best practices, and spec-driven development
  • AI-Competency — leverage AI tools across the full development lifecycle with critical judgment to evaluate and own AI-generated output
  • Technical Proficiency — fluency in the organization's languages, frameworks, databases, version control, CI/CD, containerization, and cloud platforms
  • Software Architecture & Design — apply mature design patterns and service-based architectures for high availability, resilience, performance, and security
  • Stakeholder Communication — communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with stakeholders on scope, approach, and business value
  • Extended use of AI tools — use AI to accelerate ramp-up and generate/maintain technical documentation

Education & Experience:

  • M.S. / B.S. in Computer Science or related STEM discipline
  • 8+ years of proven experience at Sr. Software Engineer level

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with languages and application frameworks as defined by the organization (JavaScript, Java, Salesforce/Apex, Node.js)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub Actions)
  • Experience with RESTful API design, service-based architectures, and data modeling

Prepare your application

Use the description above to assess your fit for CHG Healthcare. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.

Match requirements to evidence

Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.

Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.

Check the working arrangement

Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.

Review before submitting

Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.

Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.

Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
