Job description

About the company
A well-established US education-technology company with a global presence, providing digital learning content and platforms to a large user base for over two decades. Distributed, international team working on products used by millions of active users worldwide.

About the role
Senior QA Engineer with Automation needed to join the Engineering team. This is a QA role with a meaningful automation component: the focus is on strong testing fundamentals, solid software design foundations, and identifying where automation adds real value, rather than a pure automation-first approach.

The role involves testing complex integrated web applications across both UI and API layers. Initially, most of the work will be manual QA; in the mid term, the expected split is roughly 70/30 automation-to-manual.

Responsibilities

  • UI and API testing of complex integrated web applications
  • Developing and refining test plans
  • Writing and maintaining automated tests, primarily using Cypress
  • Close collaboration with developers in an Agile environment
  • Tracking and managing test cases using JIRA, TestRail, and Qmetry
  • Identifying areas where manual testing processes can be automated for reliability and maintainability

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a Manual QA, at a senior level
  • Some hands-on experience with QA automation: writing or maintaining automated tests for UI or API scenarios
  • An automation-oriented mindset: comfort with programming concepts and logical problem-solving
  • Understanding of HTTP, HTML, AJAX, JSON, REST APIs, and client-server architecture
  • Basic knowledge of SQL
  • Strong written and spoken English (interviews are conducted in English)
  • Ability to freely communicate in Russian or Ukrainian

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium
  • Understanding of CI/CD systems
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Experience with JIRA, TestRail, and Qmetry
  • Basic knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu command line)
  • Basic Git knowledge

Benefits

Compensation: Up to $4,500 gross/month

What's Offered

  • Stable, long-term position with a well-established American company (many team members have 5+ years of tenure)
  • Competitive compensation
  • Friendly and supportive team culture
  • Good vacation policy

Contract type: Independent contractor (sole proprietor / IP), incubator arrangements are not accepted.

Prepare your application

Use the description above to assess your fit for Alex Staff Agency. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.

Match requirements to evidence

Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.

Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.

Check the working arrangement

Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.

Review before submitting

Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.

Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.

Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
