Job description

Orcrist is building a next generation data intelligence platform using cutting-edge technologies. We're handling petabyte-scale data with sub-second queries. Our product is a Kubernetes‑based platform delivered as B2B SaaS or as a self‑hosted on‑prem solution, including air‑gapped deployments. We enable customers across defense, law enforcement, and enterprise to turn mission-critical data into actionable intelligence.

Role

Build and evolve AirSpot, a mobile app that lets the public report drone sightings while giving law enforcement and defense teams the information they need to understand what's happening in the airspace around them.

You'll work across the full mobile surface: real-time geospatial data, reporting workflows, maps, alerts, feeds, and offline-capable experiences. The app is already under development with React Native and Expo; you'll join an early team, co-own the architecture, and help take it from an early product to a production-grade application used by real people.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role. You'll make architectural decisions, build features end to end, improve performance and reliability, and help establish the engineering practices that the mobile team will grow around.

What you'll do

  • Build and ship production mobile features with React Native, Expo, TypeScript, and Expo Router.
  • Own architectural decisions across state management, data fetching, offline behavior, navigation, and the mobile build/release pipeline.
  • Build geospatial experiences with MapLibre, including real-time location and map interactions.
  • Improve performance and reliability across startup time, animations, lists, memory, battery, and crashes.
  • Establish reliable testing with Jest, React Native Testing Library, and Maestro.
  • Own production delivery with EAS, including builds, signing, releases, and app store readiness.
  • Contribute to backend APIs when useful and help establish engineering standards as the team grows.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.

About you

  • Several years of professional software engineering experience, includingat least two production React Native apps with real users.
  • Strong React Native, TypeScript, and Expo experience, including theNew Architecture(Fabric, TurboModules, Bridgeless).
  • Experience with mobile performance, testing, observability, and production releases.
  • Hands-on experience with MapLibre, Mapbox, Google Maps, or comparable mobile mapping technologies.
  • Evidence of owning architecture or major technical decisions, not just implementing predefined features.
  • Strong engineering judgment, pragmatic problem-solving, and the ability to work independently in a small team.
  • University-level technical education in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Eligible to work in Germany and, where required, for EU/NATO security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Node.js, Bun, or other backend experience.
  • Reanimated, Gesture Handler, and advanced React Native animations.
  • Geospatial, aviation, ADS-B, drone, or real-time location experience.
  • Experience with EAS/Fastlane and mobile CI/CD.
  • Defense, law enforcement, or other regulated-environment experience.
  • German language skills.
  • Open-source contributions to React Native or Expo.
  • Practical experience with AI coding agents and modern AI-assisted development.

What we offer

  • Own the mobile architecture:Shape a greenfield product and its technical direction.
  • Modern stack:React Native, Expo, New Architecture, Reanimated, MapLibre, TanStack Query, and Zustand.
  • High ownership:Work in a small team where your decisions have direct product impact.
  • Remote-first, Germany-wide: Work from wherever you do your best work, with regular team gatherings in Berlin/Dresden and other off-site locations.
  • Flexibility by default: Flexible working hours help you make work fit your life.
  • Your setup, your way: Get a personal home-office equipment budget to create a workspace that works for you.
  • 30 days of vacation: Take the time you need to recharge and come back with fresh energy.
  • Keep growing: We invest in your personal and professional development.
  • Get rewarded for impact: Performance bonuses are tied to agreed objectives and key results.
  • A warm welcome: Every new team member gets a welcome goodie bag.
  • Good people, good times: From summer and Christmas parties to regular team gatherings, we make time to celebrate together.
  • A mission that matters: Work on challenges with tangible impact on public safety and national security.

Prepare your application

Use the description above to assess your fit for Orcrist Technologies. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.

Match requirements to evidence

Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.

Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.

Check the working arrangement

Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.

Review before submitting

Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.

Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.

Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
