Job description

About WPT Global

Since WPT’s inaugural high-stakes televised poker games in 2003, the brand has symbolised poker prominence. Today, WPT Global is building the next generation of online poker and gaming experiences for players around the world.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Applications Engineer to join our small, all-senior data team.

We build the data models, pipelines and applications that support the business, from product and marketing analytics through to fraud detection and internal operational tools.

We work AI-first. Coding agents write a significant amount of our code, while we focus on architecture, testing, guardrails and making sure AI-assisted development is safe and reliable in production.

You’ll help turn our data into useful applications, APIs and internal tools, not just tables and dashboards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building production software across backend and frontend.
  • Strong AI-first development experience, using tools such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor regularly.
  • Deep Python backend experience, including APIs, authentication and testing.
  • Strong TypeScript / React experience.
  • Strong SQL and data modelling skills.
  • Hands-on data engineering experience with warehouses or lakehouses, pipelines and dbt.
  • Experience with containers, CI/CD and cloud deployment. AWS preferred.
  • Strong technical judgement and the confidence to challenge designs and propose better solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build data applications end to end using AI, from data models and infrastructure through to APIs and user interfaces.
  • Turn data into internal tools, APIs and self-service products for teams across the business.
  • Work across Databricks workspaces, dbt projects and data pipelines.
  • Help shape technical direction across application architecture, APIs, data modelling, testing, security and performance.
  • Review AI-generated code, identify weaknesses and turn recurring issues into automated checks and guardrails.
  • Improve our codebases and workflows so both engineers and coding agents can work more effectively.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building agents or LLM-powered tools, including MCP, orchestration or evals.
  • Databricks / Spark.
  • PostgreSQL, MySQL and SparkSQL performance optimisation.
  • Kubernetes.
  • Marketing or product analytics experience.
  • Experience within gaming, fraud, trust & safety or fintech.

Our Stack

Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, TypeScript, React / Next.js, Databricks, dbt, AWS, Kubernetes, Claude Code and Codex.

Benefits

💸 Competitive Salary: Reflecting experience and performance.

📈 Quarterly Performance Reviews: Regular feedback and career growth opportunities.

🚀 Bonus Opportunities: Rewarding outstanding performance and successful growth initiatives.

🏡 Fully Remote Role: Work remotely from within the Nordic region.

🎉 Company Meet-ups: Opportunities to connect with global colleagues.

💻 Tech Setup Budget: Essential equipment provided for optimal productivity.

Prepare your application

Use the description above to assess your fit for WPT Global. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.

Match requirements to evidence

Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.

Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.

Check the working arrangement

Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.

Review before submitting

Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.

Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.

Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
