About the Client

A seed-stage healthcare data company is building the central source of payer policy data behind coverage decisions, and is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to own its data infrastructure end to end.

The company collects and structures more than 100,000 medical policies from over 100 insurance payers, using AI to turn complex payer rules into searchable data for customers. It is backed by healthcare accelerators and the National Institutes of Health, recently signed a commercial partnership, and is now scaling its applied AI systems.

About the Role

Day to day, you will scale the web scraping platform, build LLM workflows that pull medical codes and coverage rules out of policy text, and improve the reliability of scraper jobs and deployments. As technical lead, you will review code and make architectural decisions for part-time and offshore engineers, without managing people directly. Success means reliable scraper jobs, automated testing and deployment, and structured data accurate enough for customers to act on.

Core Responsibilities

Web Scraping Infrastructure

  • Build and scale the platform used to develop scrapers that collect policy data from 100+ payers
  • Improve scraper reliability and throughput without reducing data accuracy
  • Own the scraper pipeline from ingestion through storage

LLM Data Normalization

  • Build LLM workflows that convert unstructured policy text into structured, searchable records
  • Infer and tag related medical codes (CPT, ICD-10) from policy language
  • Classify procedure coverage status (covered or not covered) by payer
  • Build evaluation and testing harnesses to measure and track output accuracy

CI/CD and System Reliability

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for testing and deploying scraper jobs
  • Monitor job failures, diagnose root causes, and ship fixes
  • Review pull requests from part-time and offshore engineers
  • Document architectural decisions and share them with the engineering team

APIs and Data Product

  • Design and maintain APIs that serve normalized policy data to customers
  • Support the Snowflake-based data product used by customers
  • Join occasional customer calls to understand feature requirements

Requirements

Must-Have

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems in Python
  • Production experience with SQL and PostgreSQL for storing and querying large datasets
  • Experience building pipelines that ingest, clean, and normalize messy or unstructured data
  • Hands-on experience deploying and running backend services on AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Experience reviewing code and owning architectural decisions on a shared codebase
  • English at C1 (CEFR) for daily video calls and technical discussions with US-based founders

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience building LLM-based extraction or classification with evaluation harnesses (OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, or similar)
  • Web scraping at scale with Scrapy, Playwright, or similar frameworks
  • Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines
  • Hands-on use of Terraform, FastAPI, or Snowflake
  • Exposure to healthcare payer policy data, medical coding (CPT, ICD-10), or prior authorization

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: Based on experience and skills
  • Remote Work: Fully remote—work from anywhere
  • Team Incentives: Recognition for maintaining 100% CRM hygiene and on-time reporting
  • Generous PTO: In accordance with company policy
  • Health Coverage for PH-based talents: HMO coverage after 3 months for full-time employees
  • Direct Mentorship: Guidance from international industry experts
  • Learning & Development: Ongoing access to resources for professional growth
  • Global Networking: Connect with professionals worldwide

Prepare your application

Use the description above to assess your fit for Pearl Talent. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.

Match requirements to evidence

Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.

Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.

Check the working arrangement

Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.

Review before submitting

Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.

Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.

Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
