Job description

Salary: Depends on Qualifications Job Type: Part-Time Temporary Division: Curriculum Department: Arts & Sciences Opening Date: 04/08/2024 Closing Date: Continuous SUMMARY Closing date: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a final candidate has been selected. Applications submitted for continuous recruitment opportunities will remain active for 6 months. Plans, prepares for, and teaches assigned courses; evaluates student progress and provide academic advising; maintains necessary records and submits institutional reports in a timely manner; assists in departmental and institutional planning; serves on college committees; performs other job-related duties on a part-time basis. This position is supervised by the Dean of Arts and Sciences. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Meets and holds classes as scheduledProvides assistance to studentsRefers students to other college staff when necessaryPrepares, implements and evaluates competency-based course outlines based upon program objectivesKeeps current on subject matter and teaching methodologiesMaintains student records and monitors student progressCompletes and submits institutional reports in a timely basisProvides input and participates in college's Planning ProcessMaintains required office hours each weekRecruits students and implements retention strategiesParticipates/assists with coordination of specific program/course managementUtilizes AVISO Retention as an early alert system for students that need extra support and resourcesServes as Advisor to selected student organizations and/or associationsServes as liaison between the college and business/industry in area of professional expertiseContinuously analyzes and evaluates instructional results to improve instruction and evaluation of student progressProvides students and college with written course expectations as defined by the college including general course information, course objectives, methods used in evaluation of students, grading policy, attendance policy, textbooks, etc.Maintains individual course assessment files with items keyed to student learning outcomes at the course level as well as to program/institutional competenciesProvides supervisor with copy of all current course syllabi with student learning outcomes keyed to program competenciesAssists with keying program competencies to institutional competenciesConducts on-going self-evaluations to improve instructional techniques and methodologiesProvides assistance in implementing the college's Program Review process and recommendations Writes or assists in writing grants as appropriate to instructional areaPromotes a positive image of collegeEngages in a program of professional development and community serviceAssists with equipment and software maintenanceAcquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to positionMaintain security of personal computer accessPerform other professional or job-related duties as assignedServe on college committees as directed by supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. Preferred: Master's degree in Mathematics. Bilingual. Experience Preferred: Some teaching experience at the community college level. Some experience with instructional delivery via distance learning.
