Job description

Who We Are

Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a global nonprofit organization working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalyzing the rapid development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. With 30 years of internationally recognized expertise on climate policy and a fierce commitment to exploring all potential solutions, CATF is a pragmatic, non-ideological advocacy group with the bold ideas needed to address climate change. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.

What You’ll Do

CATF’s Talent team supports an engaged, effective, and inclusive global workforce by developing thoughtful and consistent people practices across the employee lifecycle. As CATF continues to work across countries, functions, and time zones, managers and employees need practical HR partnership that reflects organizational values and responds to evolving needs.

The Manager, Talent and Performance will provide day-to-day HR guidance while leading programs and projects that strengthen performance, engagement, employee experience, and organizational health. Working closely with the Senior Director, Global Talent and Total Rewards and other members of the Talent team, this role will translate People strategy into practical solutions and help ensure employees and managers receive thoughtful, consistent support.

Responsibilities

  • HR Partnership & Employee Support – Build trusted relationships with employees and managers, providing consistent guidance on employee relations, performance, policies, workplace concerns, and other people matters.

  • Manager Coaching & Development – Coach managers on feedback, performance expectations, employee development, difficult conversations, conflict resolution, and team dynamics.

  • Performance Management – Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of performance practices, including goal setting, feedback, development planning, and performance conversations.

  • Employee Experience & Engagement – Strengthen the employee experience across the employee lifecycle by supporting engagement initiatives, identifying retention considerations, and translating employee feedback into practical action.

  • Talent Program & Project Leadership – Lead assigned Talent initiatives from planning through implementation, coordinating stakeholders, communicating changes, measuring outcomes, and supporting adoption.

  • Policy, Process & Operational Excellence – Develop and improve HR policies, processes, tools, and resources while identifying opportunities to simplify work and strengthen the consistency of People practices.

  • Global Collaboration & Organizational Health – Partner across regions, functions, and external providers to support effective Talent practices within CATF’s global and remote environment.

  • Data-Informed Decision-Making & Communication – Use HR data, employee feedback, and organizational themes to inform recommendations and develop clear communications for employees and managers.

What You’ll Bring

You combine sound judgment with a practical and human-centered approach to HR partnership. You can build trust across organizational levels, navigate sensitive matters with discretion, and turn complex or evolving needs into clear, workable solutions. You are comfortable balancing day-to-day employee and manager support with ownership of broader programs and projects.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, cultural studies, or a related field.

  • 5–7 years of HR experience across multiple areas of the employee lifecycle, including employee relations, performance management, HR programs, policy, and manager support.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and provide effective coaching and guidance to employees and managers at multiple organizational levels.

  • Strong judgment and experience handling sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.

  • Experience independently leading HR projects or programs from development through implementation.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and navigate ambiguity.

  • Ability to use HR data and employee feedback to identify trends, evaluate programs, and develop practical recommendations.

  • HR experience supporting employees and managers outside the U.S., along with experience working in a global organization with employees in multiple countries.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting performance management practices, employee engagement initiatives, or employee development programs.

  • Familiarity with global employment matters and working with employer-of-record or professional employer organization partners and external advisors.

  • Experience developing or improving HR policies, processes, tools, and employee resources.

  • Exposure to organizational health, talent management, learning and development, culture, or reward and recognition initiatives.

What We Provide

This is an opportunity to strengthen the employee experience and people practices that enable CATF’s global team to advance practical solutions to climate change.

  • A mission-driven role supporting an engaged, effective, and inclusive global workforce.

  • Opportunities to collaborate with employees, managers, Talent colleagues, and partners across functions, cultures, geographies, and time zones.

  • A collaborative and intellectually curious culture where diverse perspectives are valued and bold, practical climate solutions are encouraged.

  • A full-time, remote working environment with occasional travel as needed.

  • CATF provides U.S.-based employees with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement benefits; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; and other benefits and programs available to eligible employees. Additional details about eligibility and coverage are provided during the hiring process.

Compensation & Pay Transparency

CATF believes candidates should have clear information about compensation so they can make informed decisions about opportunities with us. Because our team works across multiple countries, compensation is structured using CATF’s established salary ranges for the role and country of employment.

The expected base salary range for this position is:

  • United States: USD $98,091–$122,614 per year

Actual compensation will be determined using relevant, job-related factors, including experience, skills, qualifications, role scope, internal equity, and country of employment. Benefits and other terms of employment will be based on the applicable country of employment and employing arrangement.

Prepare your application

Use the description above to assess your fit for CLEAN AIR TASK FORCE. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.

Match requirements to evidence

Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.

Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.

Check the working arrangement

Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.

Review before submitting

Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.

Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.

Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
