Job Description

Tech Pipeline specializes in resolving operational drag within complex organizations. We bridge the gap between existing tools and the actual needs of the people using them: starting with a major financial services provider that needs help streamlining their internal reconciliation interfaces.

About the role
As a Junior UI Engineer, you will focus on the parts of the system that operators actually touch. Many internal tools at large companies are functional but inefficient: causing data entry errors or slowing down approval chains. Your job is to help us rebuild these interfaces so they are clean, predictable, and directly tied to the underlying routing rules. This is a fully remote position where you will work on concrete problems: such as fixing a broken reporting dashboard or simplifying a complex multi-step form that currently causes finance teams to resort to manual spreadsheets. You will be helping to ensure that the tools these teams use every day actually support the work they are trying to do.

What you will be doing
  • Building and updating UI components in React to match new operational requirements.
  • Reading through logs and user feedback to find where a specific interface element is causing friction for the user.
  • Cleaning up redundant CSS and ensuring that internal styles are consistent across different tools.
  • Updating front end logic to ensure data validation happens before it hits the database.
  • Tracing UI bugs back to the specific data field or integration gap that is causing them.
  • Modifying internal dashboards so that operations teams can see their backlogs in real time.
  • Collaborating with our back end engineers to ensure the API responses are correctly rendered on the screen.
  • Writing and updating documentation for every interface change so the client can maintain it after we leave.

What we need from you
  • A basic understanding of modern JavaScript: particularly how to build simple components.
  • Solid foundational skills in HTML and CSS: with an eye for clear and accessible layouts.
  • The ability to write clear and concise documentation for other developers and end users.
  • An interest in the mechanics of how business data moves from one system to another.
  • Strong attention to detail: especially when it comes to edge cases and input validation.
  • A willingness to learn how to debug front end code by looking at network requests and browser logs.
  • The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while staying synced with the team.

Helpful background
  • Familiarity with Git and version control through personal projects or university coursework.
  • Previous exposure to financial reporting or data entry systems: even in a non-technical capacity.
  • Basic experience with design tools like Figma or Sketch to interpret mockups.

What the role offers
  • A permanent and full-time position with pay that is attractive and competitive for the role and market.
  • A fully remote work environment that respects your focus time and personal schedule.
  • Direct experience working on the internal systems of a major financial services provider.
  • Practical mentorship that focuses on solving real world technical problems.
  • Exposure to a wide variety of tech stacks and operational challenges across different client projects.
  • A work culture that prioritizes documentation and long-form writing over long and repetitive meetings.

Working at Tech Pipeline
We believe that good engineering is about clarity and longevity. We are not here to build temporary patches that require us to stay on a permanent retainer. Instead: we aim to leave every system better than we found it: with a clear source of truth and documentation that the client team can handle on their own. We communicate primarily through written updates and clear technical specs: which allows us to stay close to the technical reality of the work without getting slowed down by unnecessary status calls. This approach ensures that we spend our time fixing problems rather than just talking about them. Our team values ground truth and looking at actual system logs over high level theory.
