Job description
iPSC & Cellular Biology Researcher
Location: New Delhi, India
Type: Full time
About NITS Engineering
NITS Engineering is a biomedical technology company building the next generation of biomedical devices, in vitro disease models, and engineering systems for drug discovery, regenerative medicine, and diagnostics. We combine precision hardware engineering with biomedical research to build the tools that take science from the lab bench to real world application.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced iPSC & Cellular Biology Researcher to lead the biological development of human iPSC-derived cardiac cells for our engineered cardiac tissue programme.
You will be responsible for establishing and optimizing the biological workflow from blood-derived PBMC isolation through iPSC generation, expansion, differentiation, characterization, and quality control. The role will combine stem-cell biology, molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, and cellular characterization.
You will develop robust and reproducible biological protocols and SOPs that can support the generation of standardized iPSC-derived cells for 3D cardiac tissue engineering and downstream applications in disease modelling, drug discovery, toxicity assessment, and human-relevant preclinical research.
This work will be carried out in collaboration with CMC-Vellore, IIT-Delhi and CenFab at VIT-Vellore.
What You Will DoEstablish and optimize workflows for blood sample processing and PBMC isolation.Establish, maintain, expand, and cryopreserve human iPSC cultures.Develop and optimize protocols for generation and expansion of iPSCs from PBMC-derived cells.Develop and optimize differentiation protocols for generating iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and other relevant cardiac cell populations.Establish robust workflows for cardiac differentiation, maturation, maintenance, and cryopreservation.Characterize iPSC identity, pluripotency, differentiation potential, viability, and cellular phenotype.Perform pluripotency and lineage-specific characterization using immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and molecular assays.Perform RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, RT-qPCR/qPCR, and other molecular biology assays.Perform protein-level characterization including Western blotting and related techniques where required.Perform mycoplasma testing, cell viability assays, and routine cellular QC.Establish and support testing for genomic stability, including appropriate karyotyping or other genetic stability assessments.Develop QC criteria and acceptance parameters for iPSC cultures and differentiated cells.Characterize cardiomyocyte phenotype and maturation using appropriate cardiac markers and functional assays.Support calcium imaging, contractility/beat analysis, and other relevant cellular functional assays.Work with the cardiac tissue engineering and bioprinting researcher to define the biological requirements for incorporation of iPSC-derived cells into 3D tissue constructs.Troubleshoot differentiation, culture, contamination, viability, and cellular phenotype issues.Develop, validate, document, and maintain SOPs for PBMC isolation, iPSC culture, differentiation, characterization, and QC.Establish reproducible cell-processing and characterization workflows suitable for scale-up and future translation.Maintain accurate experimental records, cell-line histories, passage records, batch records, and QC documentation.Analyse and interpret biological data and establish appropriate statistical approaches.Contribute to publications, grant proposals, intellectual property, project reports, and technical documentation.Work closely with the regulatory and quality team to ensure biological workflows are appropriately documented and controlled.
What We Are Looking ForPhD in Stem Cell Biology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Tissue Engineering, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.3–5 years of relevant experience in iPSC/stem-cell biology, cellular engineering, molecular biology, or related research.Strong hands-on experience with human iPSC culture and differentiation.Demonstrated experience with PBMC isolation and/or blood-derived cellular workflows.Strong experience with mammalian cell culture and sterile laboratory practices.Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques including RNA extraction, RT-qPCR/qPCR, and protein characterization.Experience with immunofluorescence/immunocytochemistry and cellular characterization.Experience establishing and troubleshooting biological protocols independently.Strong understanding of iPSC quality control, pluripotency, genomic stability, differentiation efficiency, and cell viability.Ability to independently design experiments, analyse biological data, and troubleshoot experimental problems.Strong scientific writing and documentation skills.Demonstrated publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals.PhD graduates and postdoctoral researchers with research experience in the US, UK, Australia, or Europe will be highly preferred.
Nice to HaveExperience with iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes.Experience with cardiac differentiation and cardiomyocyte maturation.Experience with PBMC reprogramming and generation of patient-derived iPSCs.Experience with pluripotency assays and genomic stability testing.Experience with flow cytometry and quantitative image analysis.Experience with calcium imaging, cardiomyocyte contractility, or beat-frequency analysis.Experience with cardiac organoids or engineered cardiac tissues.Experience working with 3D cell culture or bioprinted tissues.Experience developing laboratory SOPs and quality-control workflows.Experience working within GLP/GMP or regulated laboratory environments.Experience with cell banking, cryopreservation, and standardized cell-production workflows.
Why JoinWork on a programme developing human iPSC-derived cardiac tissue models for disease modelling, drug discovery, and human-relevant preclinical research.Own the biological pipeline from blood-derived cells through iPSC generation and cardiac differentiation.Build robust cellular and molecular workflows designed for reproducibility and future translation.Work closely with researchers in cardiac tissue engineering, biomaterials, 3D bioprinting, and regulatory science.Access to multidisciplinary biomedical research and engineering infrastructure.Freedom to optimize protocols, investigate biological problems, and develop new approaches.Opportunity to build biological platforms that move beyond conventional 2D cell culture toward functional engineered human tissues.
If you enjoy working with stem cells, solving difficult biological problems, and building reproducible cellular systems rather than simply following established protocols, this is an opportunity to own a critical part of the programme.
Prepare your application
Use the description above to assess your fit for NITS Engineering. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.
Match requirements to evidence
Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.
Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.
Check the working arrangement
Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.
Review before submitting
Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.
Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.
Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
