About Us

HireHawk connects skilled professionals with meaningful remote opportunities supporting growing organizations and professional teams. We believe strong remote careers should offer clear expectations, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to build specialized expertise while working with experienced professionals.

About the Role

As a Legal Assistant supporting Citizenship, Adjustment of Status, SIJ-SAPCR, Removal of Conditions, and CPS matters, you will work closely with attorneys to keep cases organized, accurate, and moving forward. You will support everything from immigration forms and affidavits to CPS motions, orders, client communications, and application monitoring.

This role is especially well suited to someone who already understands U.S. immigration casework and wants to deepen their knowledge across multiple practice areas. You will receive ongoing guidance from attorneys and senior legal staff while taking meaningful ownership of case preparation, deadlines, documentation, and client coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys in preparing and managing Citizenship/Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, SIJ-SAPCR, Removal of Conditions, and CPS matters from intake through key case milestones.
  • Prepare immigration forms, petitions, affidavits, supporting evidence, correspondence, and other legal documents under attorney supervision.
  • Draft and organize motions, proposed orders, and supporting materials for CPS matters under attorney guidance.
  • Maintain complete and accurate case files, databases, calendars, and supporting documentation so attorneys can quickly understand case status and next steps.
  • Monitor filed applications, court dates, case deadlines, interviews, hearings, and other time-sensitive requirements.
  • Communicate with clients in English and Spanish to collect documents, provide case updates, coordinate next steps, and help prepare them for legal proceedings.
  • Coordinate communications with relevant parties involved in CPS cases and document case-related developments accurately.
  • Conduct immigration and case-specific legal research and prepare clear summaries for attorney review.
  • Review forms and legal documents for completeness, consistency, accuracy, and compliance before attorney submission.
  • Help attorneys prepare efficiently for client meetings, interviews, court proceedings, and hearings.

Requirements

Must-Have:

  • Previous experience as an Immigration Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar legal support professional, preferably supporting a U.S. immigration law practice.
  • Practical knowledge of U.S. immigration procedures involving Citizenship/Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, and Removal of Conditions/I-751 matters (a must)
  • Experience preparing immigration forms, petitions, affidavits, supporting evidence, and other case documentation under attorney supervision.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence communicating directly with clients about documentation and case progress.
  • Strong case-management skills, including experience tracking deadlines, monitoring pending applications, maintaining legal files, and managing multiple active matters accurately.
  • Ability to conduct legal research, prepare case summaries, draft professional correspondence, and carefully review legal documentation.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM CST.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting CPS/Child Protective Services matters, including communications with involved parties and preparation of motions and proposed orders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience working remotely with a U.S.-based law firm or legal team.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, Google Sheets, Gmail, and Google Drive.
  • Professional interest in immigration law, child welfare matters, and access to legal services.

Prepare your application

Use the description above to assess your fit for HireHawk. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.

Match requirements to evidence

Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.

Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.

Check the working arrangement

Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.

Review before submitting

Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.

Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.

Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
