Front Desk Receptionist
Position Type: Admin/Professional
Department: Dentistry Dental Clinic
Full or Part Time: Full Time
Pay Grade: BW5
Summary: The Front Office Receptionist serves as the first
point of contact for patients, visitors, students, and faculty in a
busy dental school clinic environment. This position supports daily
clinic operations by managing patient scheduling,
check-in/check-out procedures, communications, and insurance
verification and eligibility, while ensuring a welcoming,
organized, and efficient front office experience.
Principal Functional Responsibilities: Patient
Reception and Customer Service: Greet and assist patients,
visitors, students, and faculty in a professional and courteous
manner. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes to ensure
smooth clinic flow. Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries
regarding appointments and general clinic information. Maintain
accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR)
system. Facilitate efficient patient scheduling and appointment
coordination. Support patient satisfaction through professional
communication and service.
Insurance and Administrative Support: Perform
insurance verification for patient appointments, including
eligibility and coverage. Provide support with patient billing
processes, including collecting payments and addressing billing
inquiries. Work collaboratively with the billing team to ensure
accurate documentation and follow-up as needed.
Operational Support: Assist in maintaining an
organized and efficient front desk environment. Support clinic
operations and patient flow in a high-volume setting.
Other Duties: Perform other related duties as
assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 1 year of customer service experience in a high-volume
dental office
Minimum 1 year of experience with dental insurance verification
and related processes
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree
Experience with Medicaid
Physical Requirements: Must be able to utilize a phone,
computer, and other office equipment. This role operates in a
clinical environment within an academic institution and requires
frequent interaction with patients, students, faculty, and staff,
as well as extended periods at the front desk and computer.

Starting Pay Rate Range: $16.92 – $19.74,
commensurate with experience.
