Software Engineer (Django, Python)
Job Description
We are seeking a talented Python Developer to join our dynamic team.
The role spans backend API development in Django and Django REST Framework as well as service and infrastructure work on Google Cloud, so you should be comfortable moving between application code and the systems it runs on. Key Requirements:
At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Django web framework, including authentication and authorization mechanisms.
Proficiency in object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), including the use of mixins in Python.
Experience with UML diagrams for visualizing software architecture.
Knowledge of Django REST Framework (DRF) for building RESTful APIs, including serializers, viewsets, routers, and permissions.
Familiarity with design patterns such as MVC (Model-View-Controller) and MVT (Model-View-Template).
Proficiency in threading for concurrent programming.
Understanding of identity providers and single sign-on (SSO), with hands-on experience in Firebase Authentication and DRF token-based authentication.
Experience with SQL, SQL Alchemy, and PostgreSQL for database management.
Familiarity with Docker for containerization.
Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, including deploying and running services such as Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Firestore.
Comfortable reading application and cloud logs to trace errors, diagnose bugs, and understand what went wrong in production.
Understanding of Protobuf and GRPC.
Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS protocols and their implementation.
Strong grasp of data structures for efficient algorithm design.
Solid day-to-day experience with Git and GitHub is required, including branching, pull requests, and code review workflows.
Experience & Background:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
Strong proficiency in the Python programming language.
Familiarity with C/C++/Golang is a plus.
Comfortable working day-to-day on a Linux-based operating system (e.g. Ubuntu), including the command line.
A solid understanding of networking is a must.
Experience with continuous integration pipelines.
This is a full time job and will be fully remote / work from home at this time.
Candidate should be able to spend 3-4 hours at night time from 8pm onwards to accommodate meetings / request in US / Canada time zone. We are looking for someone who is:
A committed problem solver.
Self-motivated, a team player, and able to take the initiative.
Willing to understand the problem before jumping into code. You will not often be told to just code some algorithm; you will also have to figure out what needs to be done.
Comfortable ramping up on new documentation and exploring repositories of open source tools (try opening up the repos for the Nano or Vim text editors).
Open to using AI tools (e.g.
Claude
Code) to work more productively — we actively encourage them as part of the day-to-day workflow.
