We’re Hiring: Director of Development | Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) Bay Area Improve Your Tomorrow (IYT) is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Director of Development to lead fundraising efforts for our Bay Area region. This is a high-impact, frontline development leadership role for someone who can build relationships, identify opportunities, secure funding, and drive revenue while working closely with the Regional Executive Director and IYT’s national Shared Services Development team. The Director of Development will own the full regional fundraising cycle—from prospecting and fund development planning to grant writing, donor cultivation, sponsorships, events, stewardship, and Salesforce management. What You’ll Do🔹 Lead Regional Fundraising Strategy Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan with clear revenue targets.Maintain a 12-month fundraising pipeline and actively manage prospects from cultivation through solicitation and stewardship.Provide revenue forecasts, scenario models, and progress-to-goal reports.🔹 Drive Grant Revenue Own the full grant process, including LOIs, proposals, renewals, reports, budgets, and attachments.Write and submit an average of 3 grants per month.Manage a 12-month grant calendar and ensure all deadlines and quality standards are met.Build relationships with foundation and community funders throughout the grant cycle.🔹 Build Corporate, Individual & Community Partnerships Develop a balanced portfolio of corporate, individual, family foundation, DAF, and mid-level donors.Create and manage corporate partnerships that may include sponsorships, grants, employee engagement, and in-kind support.Lead sponsorship development and revenue generation for regional events.Partner with the Regional ED on individual and major-gift cultivation and solicitation.🔹 Strengthen Funder Stewardship Develop tailored stewardship plans that deepen funder relationships and support renewals.Serve as the primary point of contact for local funders.Drive a regional grant renewal rate of 75% or higher year over year.🔹 Own Salesforce & Fundraising Systems Maintain accurate regional pipeline, opportunity, contact, activity, proposal, and reporting data.Ensure grant records are audit-ready.Track funding concentration, sunset risks, pipeline gaps, and revenue forecasts.🔹 Partner with the Executive Director Prepare the ED for donor and funder meetings, site visits, and major asks.Develop briefing materials, talking points, prospect lists, and follow-up strategies.Keep the ED informed of fundraising opportunities, deadlines, funder communications, and reporting obligations.What We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who: • Believes deeply in IYT’s mission, vision, and values • Can work independently and consistently deliver results • Has exceptional grant writing and relationship-building skills • Is comfortable managing multiple deadlines, funders, and fundraising priorities • Has 5–7+ years of professional fundraising/development experience • Has a demonstrated record of securing grants in the $25,000–$500,000 range • Has experience cultivating individual donors, corporate partners, and foundation funders • Has experience planning fundraising events and developing sponsorships • Is proficient in Salesforce or a comparable CRM • Understands the California philanthropic landscape • Can thrive in a multi-site or national nonprofit environment A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree and CFRE are preferred.
