ABOUT THE JOB
The Data Product Owner leads several cross-functional scrum teams responsible for delivering outcome-based data solutions to the business. This role is defined by the problems it solves, not the technology it uses. Whether the right answer is a Tableau dashboard, a Snowflake Cortex agent, a Python-based insight package delivered as a Streamlit portal, or a reusable component of our semantic model, the Data Product Owner is accountable for choosing the approach that best achieves the desired outcome and for guiding their teams to build it.
Our stakeholders are primarily internal, though some solutions serve external audiences, and their needs evolve quickly. This person must be comfortable operating in an environment where both Technology and Product direction change, treating that change as a normal condition rather than a disruption. A major part of the mandate is enablement: building the foundational pieces — starting with a well-structured semantic model — that let stakeholders and teams across the organization build their own solutions, inside and outside of Technology. The ideal candidate is fluent in leveraging AI to accelerate how these solutions get designed, built, and maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the product vision, roadmap, and prioritized backlog for a portfolio of outcome-based data solutions serving internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead multiple scrum teams day to day — including backlog grooming, sprint planning, prioritization, and removing blockers — while keeping teams focused on measurable outcomes over outputs.
- Take direction from the Director of Business Intelligence on analytics and reporting outcomes, and from the Technical Product Manager on technical and product execution, reconciling their input into a single prioritized backlog.
- Proactively surface conflicts in priority or direction early, and drive them to resolution rather than letting teams stall.
- Translate stakeholder goals into clearly defined problems, success metrics, and acceptance criteria, and validate that delivered solutions actually move those metrics.
- Select the right delivery approach for each problem (e.g., Tableau, Snowflake / Cortex agents, Python / Streamlit portals) based on the outcome and the audience, rather than defaulting to a preferred technology or pattern.
- Leverage AI and modern tooling to accelerate discovery, prototyping, development, and iteration across the teams.
- Build and steward foundational, reusable components — especially the semantic model — so that stakeholders and other teams can reliably build their own solutions against a trusted, governed layer.
- Establish and support self-service enablement, including documentation, patterns, and guardrails, so users can create their own solutions with confidence.
- Partner closely with Product leaders and internal stakeholders who depend on these solutions, keeping all parties aligned on priorities, tradeoffs, and delivery status.
- Anticipate and absorb change from both Technology and Product, adjusting priorities and communicating impacts without losing delivery momentum.
- Ensure solutions meet quality, security, and compliance expectations appropriate to internal and external use.
- Track adoption, usage, and business impact, and use those insights to continuously refine the portfolio.
- Define success metrics and business outcomes for all major initiatives and hold teams accountable for measuring realized value after delivery.
- Ensure solutions follow established release, change management, and production readiness processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of 7 years proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role delivering data, analytics, or BI products, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated success leading Agile / Scrum teams, ideally more than one team concurrently. Strong background in data and analytics, with the ability to reason about data products end to end (source to consumption). Experience in healthcare, population health, benefits administration, or related regulated industries preferred. Experience working with data governance, data quality, and master data initiatives preferred.
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
- Hands-on familiarity with Snowflake, including Cortex agents, Cortex Analyst / search services, and semantic views.
- Experience with modern analytics and delivery tools such as Tableau, Python, and Streamlit (or comparable frameworks for building lightweight portals and insight packages).
- Practical fluency in leveraging AI / LLMs to build, accelerate, or augment data solutions.
- Strong grasp of semantic modeling and the value of a reusable, governed foundation that enables self-service.
- An outcome-first, technology-agnostic mindset: chooses the right tool for the job and lets go of tools that no longer fit.
- Highly adaptable and calm amid shifting Technology and Product priorities.
- Diplomatic and decisive: builds trust with multiple stakeholders and makes clear prioritization calls when direction conflicts.
- A builder-and-enabler orientation: as motivated by helping others create solutions as by delivering their own.
- Curiosity and a habit of continuous learning as the tooling landscape evolves.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, comfortable working with both Product leadership and non-technical business users.
- Experience managing product backlogs in Azure DevOps or similar tools.
- Awareness of data governance, security, and privacy considerations (experience handling sensitive or regulated data such as PHI is a plus).
- Comfort selecting and working across a range of delivery technologies rather than specializing in a single one.
- Experience operating in an environment of frequent change and ambiguity.
- Track record of translating business needs into prioritized, outcome-driven work and measuring results.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a matrixed structure, taking direction from multiple leaders while managing competing priorities.
Pay Range: $110,000 - $140,000/yr

Prepare your application
Use the description above to assess your fit for Marathon Health. This checklist is guidance from Resumize, rather than additional requirements from the employer. Imported listings can be shortened or change after collection, so confirm the complete description and current availability before sending an application.
Match requirements to evidence
Identify the responsibilities and skills the employer explicitly names. For each important requirement, choose one example from your work, education, training, or projects. Explain what you did, how you did it, and what changed as a result. Include a measurable outcome when you can support it. If you lack a requirement, describe related experience accurately instead of adding an unfamiliar skill to your resume.
Put the most relevant examples near the top of your resume. Keep job titles, dates, qualifications, and contact details consistent across your application materials. Use the employer’s terminology when it describes your experience accurately; a copied list of keywords does not explain your contribution. A short, specific bullet is easier to review than a paragraph that mixes several unrelated duties.
Check the working arrangement
Confirm the location, schedule, employment type, and any eligibility requirements on the employer’s site. A remote label does not establish worldwide eligibility or flexible hours. If compensation, benefits, equipment, travel, or contract duration are missing from this listing, write down your questions for the recruiter. Do not assume details from another opening at the same company apply to this role.
Review before submitting
Follow the employer’s requested file format and application instructions. Open your exported resume and check that its text is selectable, its sections read in order, and its links work. Proofread names, dates, and contact information. Share confidential work samples only when you have permission, and use an anonymized example when necessary.
Submit through a trusted employer or recruiting destination. If the original listing has disappeared, search the employer’s careers page for the title rather than assuming the vacancy remains open. Save the application date, job reference, and the version of your resume you sent. Those details help you prepare for a later conversation and avoid submitting conflicting information through several job boards.
Review your resume for writing and readability feedback, or browse other openings if this opportunity is unavailable.
