Position Overview:

The client is a mental healthcare company, and we're building AI directly into how care gets delivered — think a clinical scribe for therapists, AI-assisted chat, and other tools that make clinicians' jobs easier. They’re hiring staff-level engineers to help lead that build.

They’re looking for engineers who've genuinely changed how they work over the last year or two — people who direct an AI agent through real, complex work and know exactly when to trust it and when to step in.

They are tool-agnostic and welcome experience with Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, or other AI-assisted development tools, including proprietary solutions you may have built yourself. What matters most is that you have hands-on experience and a well-tested, practical perspective on how to use these tools effectively.

You'll work across a live production codebase (TypeScript throughout — a NestJS backend, a Next.js frontend) with real users and real stakes. You'll own architecture decisions, help decide what gets built next, and set the tone for how the rest of the engineering team adopts AI-assisted development.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with real time spent at a staff, lead, or principal level
• Strong TypeScript fluency across both backend and frontend (NestJS and Next.js).
• A workflow that's visibly built around agentic AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, etc.), Looking for people who have genuinely changed how they work, not just occasional autocomplete users.
• Thought leadership — someone who can set the tone for how the team adopts AI-assisted development.
• A repeatable method for onboarding to an unfamiliar codebase and ramping up on the product side.
• Good judgment about pace — knowing when to move fast and when a system is sensitive enough to slow down for sensitive systems
